World Breastfeeding Week/ Kara Rickard / George Fm Radio host and Tv Presenter
I went back to work quite soon after my children were born so I pumped milk for them every day.For my first baby I pumped in the tiny studio production booth cause it was the only place with a power plug and a door. I'd hide away in there because I didn't want to make anyone uncomfortable. But now that I'm three kids deep and more secure I care less what people think.
These days i just pump in the main studio and everyone is so used to it that most of the time no one even notices.
Pumping sucks enough as it is (I've never met a mum who actually enjoys pumping) and everyday I swing between "this is okay, I can do this" and "this is too hard, i can't do it anymore" so a little bit of support from my colleagues makes a massive difference.
The last thing a working mum, who probably already feels guilty about not being with their baby, needs is people being dicks when they are just trying to do their best for their child. Mums fight battles against themselves everyday without having to fight just for the right to feed their babies.
